GK Coaching Work Shop

  • Monmouth University 400 Cedar Avenue West Long Branch, NJ, 07764 United States (map)

Time to work on our own coaching is such hard thing to come by with camps and recruiting. For us, we’ve wanted to offer a coaching workshop for many years, but time (+COVID) beats us, also! So..

We are taking the opportunity to run a GK Coaching Workshop in conjunction with our Collegiate GK Camp that will be a hands on, roll your sleeves up and get involved event. You do not have to be your program’s specific GK coach to join.

This workshop will be delivered by SOS Directors, David Williamson (USAWNT Assistant Coach) and David Harte (2 x FIH Best GK in the world, Kampong & Ireland)

Using a higher level GK participant, we are able to demonstrate how we run a session, how to introduce the skill, generally how an elite level GK session can look.

‘Keepers are a resource heavy member of your team, they take time and manpower. When you think about it, every save your GK makes is one less goal your team has to score. Now, how much of your coaching time is taken up with trying to get the white thing in the net???

What to Expect

  • How to challenge GK’s while maintaining a learning environment

  • Delivering sessions which continually reinforce foundation skill plus introducing new techniques

  • Introducing the latest developments in GK technique and training

  • Speciality skills, Defending Drag Flicks & PCD Work

  • Shootout techniques (Worth the admission alone!)

  • All skills will be demonstrated by our staff in pads

The Workshop is open to any coach who wants to further their level of the dark arts, sorry GK coaching..
